A Movie You Might Have Missed: Get Low

moviesA Movie You Might Have Missed:  Get Low

Sometimes a movie comes and goes and doesn't get noticed because it doesn't fit the popular niche.  No impossible missions, no robots that transform, no aliens, no car chases, no starlet of the moment displaying her "assets".  Just a well made, quiet movie that comes and goes with little fanfare or notice.

Get Low is one such movie.  Released in July 2010, it has grossed about $10 million and is now out on DVD.  Starring Robert Duvall, Bill Murray, Lucas Black and Sissy Spacek, it is VERY well acted!  A bit comedy, a bit dark, rated PG-13 for the occasional blue word.

Based on an actual event, Robert Duvall plays a Tennessee backwoods hermit in the 1930's with a dark secret and a decision to hold his own funeral while still alive.  Bill Murray and Lucas Black play the funeral home employees tasked with making it happen and Sissy Spacek the sister of a former love.  We won't go any further in the details because we don't want to spoil anything!

If you've got a little time to watch a well made movie that is obviously a labor of love (it took about 8 years to get approvals and funding to get made), take the time to rent Get Low!
