Okay, if you've never seen the '80s movie Top Gun, the reference probably just did a fly by past your control tower!
As REALTORS®, we're VERY dependent on communication with you as our clients! We need key guidance from you to properly set our marketing course. How fast do you want to sell? What are you key concerns? Financially what can you afford to do? And a host of other questions that go with selling your home.
We'll have our initial meetings, perhaps believe everything is hunky dory....expectations established and we're flying Mach 2 in what appears to be clear skies!
But then things may get a little bumpy without warning! No message from the pilot to fasten our seat belts! There's some tension, and we don't know why. Something is bothering you, but you haven't told us what or why. We do our best to make sure our clients NEVER have a reason to be dissatisfied, but sometimes things may get a little off track because of some misunderstanding.
Perhaps one of your friends put a bug in your ear about something that we do (or don't do) as part of the marketing of your home. The neighborhood "expert" starts talking about how he sold his home (10 years ago....), or how his friend the agent SWEARS they could get your home sold in two weeks (even though they've never been in your home or your community and sell about three homes a year!).
This is where failure to communicate can be toxic to our relationship. We know we talk about a LOT of things at our initial meetings. We lay out the methods and strategies we have for marketing your home. What we do, what we don't do, and WHY we don't do it. Perhaps something we said (or didn't say) got misunderstood. It doesn't HAVE to be a big thing, just give us the opportunity to clear the air. The probability is high that we can alleviate your concerns once we know what they are.
We DO want to help you complete the successful sale of your home, but like we said at our initial meeting, we don't take hostages. If you're not happy with our service and we can't get you to your happy place, just ask to be released from the listing contract. No hassle & best wishes.
