I tend to be a fairly private person. You'd have to dig through my Facebook page pretty deeply to find more than flowers, pets, bees and some very basic bio type stuff on the left. You won't even find my birthday as public information.
I have routines that are part of my day.
My cell phone is my alarm clock.
Before I roll out of bed (and after some time arguing about how much I'd like NOT to do so), I've popped open my email and scanned the MLS Autoprospecting emails for any new matches that are relevant to my active buyers. Most mornings I scan the new patio homes and condos and go No No No, but sometimes it's a YES and texts to clients follow (AFTER I've got the four Chihuahuas rounded up and outside for the first potty break of the day).
A little breakfast in front of the laptop to check ActiveRain, sports scores and news, and then it's time to get ready and head to engineeringland.
My daily schedule is very flexible and I can balance the real estate life and engineering life pretty readily. And if I have a week like this one with more than the usual real estate activity, I'll "create" some extra time by using vacation time from the engineering job. 2 half days were used this week and there wasn't a minute of "vacation" in there. Two meetings with buyers and a builder rep and a listing presentation filled that time.
At home at towards the end of the day there's another routine task, feeding our furry herd.
What you see there is the dinner time feeding routine for 15 cats and 4 Chihuahuas. Liz takes care of breakfast, I handle dinner. It's a 30-45 minute evolution depending on interruptions. For the cats, there are 10 different additives to be delivered in various combinations unique to each cat and their individual health needs, and two cats also get nightly "pillings". The Chihuahuas have another 8 possible additives plus two small containers of vegetable baby food heated up. And yes, I have it all documented on an Excel worksheet as to who gets what and how much (for instance canned cat food varies from 1/4 to 1/3 to 1/2 a can).
Amazon is more than happy to have us on their Subscribe and Save program, and Liz manages monthly deliveries to make sure we never run out of any of the necessaries. And our basement? We've got enough cat food stashed to get through months and months of societal collapse :)
So how does this relate to real estate? For one, it's attention to detail. If I can KNOW the combination for every one of those dinner bowls, I can keep up with (and ahead of) the details of any real estate transaction I'm helping you with. Secondly, it's dedication that applies in each aspect of my life. I don't miss deadlines. I'm driven to take care of my engineering career, my real estate career, and my zookeeping duties. I can prioritize my dailies into the must dos and the nice to dos, so you can rest assured that I'll get your needs taken care of.
