Read The Fine Print!
Life is full of fine print*, and real estate is no exception. Pages and pages of contracts, special clauses, disclosures. Lots of paperwork, and in the eagerness to get to the closing table, paperwork may be signed in a hurry without fully understanding of what you just signed as a home buyer or seller.
We appreciate that you trust us as your agent. Often when a friend has recommended us to you, it comes with the expectation that we know what we're doing (and we do!)...but still, we'd like for you to have a full understanding of what we do for you, how we're going to do it, and just as importantly, what we CAN'T do for you.
And as we complete a listing agreement to sell your home, we're providing you a summary of what each paragraph means, but it's best to read the listing contract with attention to detail, ESPECIALLY in regards to what the buyer expects to stay with the home.
When you're offering to purchase a home, we want you to understand the key components of your offer. What's earnest money and your risks? How the inspection will be done and what you can reasonably ask for. What does AS-IS REALLY mean?? What happens if you can't get your loan on time? And a lot more fine print, and not so fine print!
And sometimes when it comes to fine print, we're going to recommend you consult a specialist. Fact is, there's a clause right in the standard Cincinnati contract that advises consulting with a real estate attorney if you have LEGAL questions regarding the contract.
So make sure you read and understand the fine print to ensure yourself a better real estate transaction!
