Getting To The REAL Root Cause Of A Problem
As an engineer supporting production lines I spent decades solving problems. Determining why something wasn't performing as expected. And sometimes you could THINK you knew what the cause was and "fix it", but if you didn't REALLY figure it out, the problem would come back. Having a problem that you think you fixed return is more than a bit frustrating. So you learn to be VERY thorough with your methods and get to the true root cause of a problem.
In real estate part of my job is also troubleshooting and figuring out root causes.
Why is a website not working as expected? Is it the new feature added or something older causing the problem?
Why is a home not selling? Price? Location? Lacking a key feature? Age of home? Something else not so apparent?
Why is the underwriter concerned about a particular item in the contract? Is a true issue or a false perception of requirements?
Why is the other side objecting to the terms of the contract during negotiations? Is there a logical reason or is it an emotional response?
Getting to the REAL root cause of an issue is the key to taking care of things right the first time, and making sure our clients have the best chances of success.
