When we're not busy with real estate we like to flower garden. We have some large beds with a variety of perennials. Small, large, a host of colors and styles and we enjoy the beauty of the blooms. We pick flowers to be good for attracting bees, butterflies and hummingbirds and considering where we live, to be deer resistant because if we didn't they'd be munching until they cleaned us out.
And this year we've added a couple of beehives, a natural extension of our flower gardening. They're interesting to watch too as we learn their behavior and what we need to do to help them thrive.
Now not everything we plant does as well as we'd like. Each year we adjust based on what thrives and what doesn't. This afternoon was Natorp's Nursery's last day of the spring season. With the added appeal of some possible $5 flowers we stopped by to see what we could add. Now we didn't have much luck with the sale flowers, we still wound up with a full load of flowers by the time we were ready to head home.
How did we pick what we bought? We listened to the honeybees at the nursery. Now they didn't speak English, but they communicated in their own way, telling us exactly what they liked and what would be a good addition to our garden. Some flowers were beautiful, but there were no bees on them at all. Other flowers were being steadily worked by the honeybees, telling us THOSE flowers would be a great addition to our garden. So four of those, and three of these and one of those and another few of that and we had another trove of flowers we know the bees will love AND that have blooms we'll enjoy too. Listening pays dividends!
Now listening is another key trait for us when working with our clients. When a new potential client calls us, we know to ask questions and listen to find out what is important to them. After all, the better we understand their needs, the better we can find that perfect match for them later.
So when a patio homebuyer tells us they want a three bedroom home, we know to ask a follow up question. Is the third bedroom what they really need, or would a study/bonus room work too? While that might seem like a small difference, when you're talking Cincinnati patio homes the requiring a true 3rd bedroom can take a lot of patio homes off the table. The conversation continues and we continue to listen for the clues that will help us determine the true needs of our client. As the conversation continues we can narrow down the communities that are best fit, or depending on what we hear, it might be apparent that a patio home isn't the best fit after all. Maybe the best fit is a regular ranch home or a condo, but that's why we listen.
