How Many NOs Will It Take?

No to Yes?Some kids figure out if they ask their parents enough times, eventually they can wear them down and turn that No to Yes.

Can I?

And in some cases in adult life that same strategy just might work too.

But in most of real estate asking for the same things over and over just lead to No, No, No, and more No.

As a buyer you can consistently refuse to take your agent's advice and offer too low over and over, and the answer from the sellers will consistently be No, how about full price?  Or maybe even silence.

You want a builder to change something they say they won't change?  That is just going to pile No on top of No.

You want to ask for something not in the purchase contract long after it's timeline?  That'll be another big No.

You want to buy a house in a hot market segment, but aren't in a hurry to see them?  That leads to more NOs.

How do you avoid having to deal with so many NOs?  Hire an agent to help you that understands the market, and then LISTEN to them.  No amount of HGTV shows and online articles about home buying are going to beat the expertise a knowledgeable agent can bring to the table, but all that expertise is worthless if you're not going to heed the advice.  A good agent knows how to get you from NO to YES, or at least knows when NO is going to stay NO.

Tenacity is fun for me, I love No, because no = next! That got a no, next attempt, next attempt. What I find is I can outlast most people, literally they cave to get rid of me, because most people hate "conflict"; even though negotiating is communicating, not conflict.

I am all about perseverance, the more NO's I get the closer I am to a YES now with that said gratefully once I am in front of a Principal I generally get a YES... the key is getting in front of the Principal, Endre
